It’s departure day, again. Today, we are packing up and leaving our Old Town AirBnb and heading back to Oslo. I have decided that I’ve done enough dishes, and we will go out for breakfast this morning!
Around the corner from our beloved bakery, there’s a hotel with a restaurant that’s open for breakfast. We head on in and order two complete breakfasts and one French. The French one comes with half a baguette and a croissant, a glass of juice and a hot beverage. The complete ones come with an omelette or two fried eggs, sausages, half a baguette, a glass of juice and a hot beverage. The girls get a hot chocolate each, I get a tea. Joe’s espresso is extra.

After breakfast, we head over to the bakery to buy some treats for the trip home. My favourite bakery lady is busy with an inspector! We don’t get the goodbye we wanted, but we get some treats and wave our goodbyes.
With our snack bag now full, we walk back up to the AirBnb, grab our bags, and head for the tram. This is our first time on the tram in Nice, and we don’t quite know what to do about tickets. The server at the restaurant this morning said kids under 11 don’t need tickets, just buy the two adult tickets and you’ll be fine. The security guard at the station told Joe everyone needs tickets, so we bought four. When we got on the tram and googled it, we learned that kids under 11 don’t need tickets. Oh well…
When we get off the tram at the airport, we meet this angry fellow:

We checked in online already, so when we get to the airport, we head straight to security. We have only our three carry ons and our snack bag, so it doesn’t take long to get through. We have plenty of time, so the girls and I have time to explore. We discover that out of the three washroom facilities in the entire Terminal 1, only one was working! So at least we got to walk a lot, over all three floors…

Our flight was about 30 minutes delayed, but before we knew it, we were ready for take off.

The fight to Oslo is only 3 hours, and on the Norwegian flights, you have to pay for everything. They do not hand you a cup of water without charging. The girls and I get juices because it is very hot (nice sales trick, Norwegian!), and try to close our eyes.
After the bumpiest landing of our recent flights, we land in Oslo. We get off the flight and through the airport and see that an Uber ride to my mom’s is just under 600NOK, but we have to stop by the lost and found first. We lost a snack bag when we arrived from Hong Kong last month, and we’ve decided to ask if they’ve found it. Maylin and I walk upstairs and allllllll the way across the entire airport to find the Lost and Found office, to no avail. No bag found matching our description, I even showed the man a picture.
When we get back downstairs, the Ubers now cost just under 700NOK. Ugh. Oh well, it was worth a shot. Our driver arrives, in a fancy Tesla that we have trouble even opening the door to, but he has a fantastic sun roof, so I enjoy the view straight up on our ride to my mom’s. It’s hot though, and we are roasting in the back seat. And his cologne is very strong. It makes it hard to breathe.
Finally, we’re back home. My mom has been preparing food all day, one of my favourites, and so dinner is ready right away. No photos were taken, in fact, I’ve put my phone somewhere, hopefully on charge, and I feel my shoulders relax. Dinner is over and packed away by around 7.30pm, and the girls are already on the playground. Joe and I go for a walk in the last rays of sunshine.

When we finally sink into beds, Maylin is back with my mom, and Joe and I get a good night’s rest again.

Beautiful blue sky and great contrast of colours.
Thanks Sandra, I wish I could take credit for the blue skies!
