A new day and a new beach! – Day 99 – Dec 10, 2025

My feet are itching for new adventures, so today we’re exploring a different beach! But first – school work! The girls are doing English today, and once they are set up, Joe and I head out to our balcony office:

Elephant pants from our visit to Wat Arun are hanging to dry. Would you like an office like this?

Once everyone is done their work for the day, we pack up and aim for the beach south of Chopstick/Monkey Mountain. We aim for a beach side resort with a restaurant, and book a Grab taxi to take us there. We head to Anantasila Beach Restaurant and have to walk through the resort to get to the restaurant. It sure is beautiful here! They have orchids en masse, suspended on palm trees! Their roots are showing, oh my!

Is it proper to be showing off one’s roots like this?

We walk by their (only) pool, and into an open air restaurant which faces the beach. It is such a relaxing atmosphere, our shoulders lower and we sit in comfortable chairs, being waited on by the kindest servers. The weather is warm, and I think we’re in heaven?

Téa was just served bread with butter, she doesn’t look happy at all, right?
Maylin asked for a bottle of water, and was given a glass bottle of Eira water from Norway! I’ve never even heard of this brand, and looking at the Thai writing on the back, I’m wondering if it might be made specially for this market?
Once in a rare while, I have an adult beverage. When I see they have a house specialty cocktail called mango sticky rice, I just have to try it! It sounds fabulous, it looks fabulous, it tastes… bland. But ok, I’ll take it, it’s smooth, cold and faintly smells of mango.
Téa picks pizza from the kids menu. Usually a kids menu is a smaller item, but this looks to be an adult size pizza to me!
Again an item from the kids menu – mac & cheese! We haven’t seen this on a menu for a very long time, and Maylin was very excited to have this favourite again.
Joe managed to get his order in before me, otherwise this would have been my choice. He got grilled chicken with young green papaya salad, spicy dipping sauce and sticky rice.
I am so glad I ended up with my second choice! Glass noodles with ground chicken, dried shrimp, crispy shallots, garlic and peanuts. It was so delicious, and I liked it more than Joe’s dish!

We had such a delicious lunch in the fresh sea air, with the smell of salt and sand, and the sounds of the beach. We felt thoroughly relaxed, and ready to explore the beach life. This beach is very shallow, so lots of beach area and lots of people. There are vendors selling you a sun lounger for the day, ice cream carts, I see a lady getting her pedicure while on the sun lounger, and lots going on in all directions. We really just came to check the beach out, we didn’t really bring anything to spend the day at the beach, so we wade along the beach for a bit. The beach isn’t quite as long as the one we walked the previous day, as even though there’s more beach, there are still areas cut off by high tide.

This beach is much more shallow than the one up where we live, so there’s always a nice beach to walk along.
Why yes, that is a horse riding up and down the beach!
We stood watching the mountain while we waited for our Grab taxi, but could not spy a single monkey.

We taxied back home and hopped straight in the pool, hot with sandy feet, as we were. Although, the pool rules say we must wear swimwear, so we did pop by the condo to change first…

After a refreshing swim, we shower and get comfortable for the evening. We don’t always have quite as extravagant a lunch as we did today, so we’re having a much simpler dinner. Joe heads across the road to buy some ingredients for a comforting meal at home.

We’ve been doing movie nights lately, and tonight is no different. We tend to either have game nights or movie nights, as one daughter loves one and the other loves the other. It’s all about compromise! But tomorrow… Tomorrow is day 100!
