It’s Sunday, and it’s the Sunday before Christmas. People would be actually mad to go to a mall today, right? Well, call us mad, because that’s exactly what we did! Well, not right away… Joe went and got a haircut first, and when he got back, we all hopped in the pool! Then we showered, Joe cooked lunch, and THEN we went to the mall.
Actually, two malls. We needed to find something in particular at Blueport, so we head there first. The Grab taxi is quick, air conditioned, and comes when we call for it. It’s the same price when we are four people travelling together, as the tuktuk bus charges 15THB per person, and the Grab taxi is 62THB today. Ok, so 2THB more, but I’ll pay that for cool and comfortable (and seatbelts)!

Joe is still convinced there’s a dentist here, Téa and I just weren’t looking in the right place, so while I try on swimsuits at H&M, Joe asks (!) at the information booth. No, sorry, there’s no dentist here, but there is one at Village Market!
After a successful swimsuit shopping expedition, but unsuccessful dentist hunt, we grab a Grab to Village Market.

By now, we’re in need of a snack. We head to the third floor, there’s a gelato place next to the café that Téa and I went to last time, and we head there right away. The girls both have gelato (strawberry cheesecake for Maylin, caramel for Téa), Joe orders a coffee, and I ask for a lychee soda with my “chocolate lava cake” (meanwhile, they nuked my lava cake so the lava is dry, crumbly and hot as real lava).

Joe had an electronic doodad he was looking for, and it just so happens that all the electronics shops are on the same floor as the entertainment area (and our café), so the girls and I get to go play for a bit, while Joe shops.

While we were eating cake and ice cream earlier, Joe kept saying to Maylin “there’s a hair dresser right here, do you want to go get a haircut?”. She kept telling him “NO” every single time, and yet, as we were about to get on the escalators to head downstairs, she says – “Mom, let’s go cut my hair”! She was invited to hop into this cool looking car to get her hair cut, and we were able to tell the hairdresser exactly what to cut, how short to cut it, and what to not touch (her bangs).

It’s weird how hairdressers constantly refuse to believe little girls who want their hair shorter than others. This is happening around the world, I can vouch for that! Canada, Japan, Thailand and England have all balked at short hair requests from little girls, and most likely elsewhere too. Believe the girls, people!

When we were all done and all shopped out, we Grabbed home to put away our bags, so we could head over to the last Tamarind night market before Christmas.

We also picked up some mango sticky rice from the vendor across the street, as the girls were saving their waffle for home, and Joe and I can have our dessert to ourselves.

Great haircut, Maylin. You know I love short and cute.
Short and cute for the win! I’m considering a mighty chop myself…
Maylin var så fin med nyklippet hår!
Takk, Mette! Det syns vi også!
