Joe went out for a walk again this morning, so when I wake up, there’s street food breakfast to be had!

The girls struggle with motivation as they complete their math and English tasks for the morning. When we’re all done, we eat whatever foods we can scrape together and call lunch (I finished up my yogurt with some cereal), and then, only then, do we head out for the day.
Our destination this afternoon is the climbing café from last week. The girls run straight for the climbing walls, and Joe and I sit down for our excellent coconut coffees. I haven’t had a coconut coffee done this way anywhere else, so I’m always disappointed when I request them. Climbing café does it best!

The girls are loving this climbing experience. Maylin tries to climb an especially challenging outcropping and takes a fall, which means it’s time to switch activities. Téa, our creative mind, has been wanting to paint here since we first discovered this place, but her sister has never wanted to join her. Until today! Both girls pick a capybara figurine, and sit down with paints and brushes.

At this point, I leave the others at the café and head home. I am being interviewed by a lady doing research about how we aquire languages, as she is writing a book! It’s a topic I have a lot of experience with and opinions on, as I wrote my university dissertation on a similar topic. I practically skip all the way home to chat with a stranger for an hour, because would you believe it? Speaking with someone other than my nearest and dearest family members has become a rare treat! The interviewer is in Germany, so the time difference lends itself to a mid afternoon chat.
While I’m on my call, Joe and the girls come home. Their creations are now dry and ready for display!

Joe is not feeling great. When Joe doesn’t feel great, there’s only one thing that can soothe his soul, so he sends Téa and I out to get dinner for the evening.

The girls and I leave Joe to feel better, and head out for another late night walk. It’s not really late night, it just looks like it. Anything after 6pm looks this dark. Dusk starts at 5pm, and then BAM it’s pitch black.

Once back up, we hunker down to watch a movie with the girls, and once again it takes them a good hour to settle down in bed. My evenings are not getting any shorter, and I finally crawl into my own bed around 11.30pm. One day, one GLORIOUS day, they may agree to putting themselves to bed, instead of fighting their way into sleep…
