Last day of school for the year! Day 108 – Dec 19, 2025

It’s Friday, and we are completing the Norwegian work for the first week of January! It’s finally time to pack away the school books, and unpack them once we arrive in our Vietnamese destination of Nha Trang. We’ll still do our daily Duolingo, even though the girls actually prefer the music and chess courses, over the “boring” Norwegian and French lessons I make them do.

There are cleaners coming today. Joe’s been asking our host for a vacuum cleaner since we arrived, but they don’t have one to loan us, and the glass cleaning cloths I wiped the floor with on Wednesday evening only did so much… So while we do our school work, two cleaners come in and de-dust our floors and bathrooms.

The girls’ bathroom is now good to go, and they feel comfortable going back into their room to sleep. Except… when we try flushing the toilet, water leaks EVERYWHERE. Oh no! The technician is asked to come back, but he’s not available until tomorrow at 10am, so for now, the toilet is out of order, but shower and floor work well.

After a morning of work and new let-downs, we head across the street for a bagel lunch, as we have to be back in the apartment for the 1pm technician coming to look at the girls’ leaky AC unit… Can’t fix the bathroom floor, only to have the bedroom floor deal with water issue, that would be so silly! So yet again, our day is slightly interrupted by appointments and repairs to our AirBnb rental.

At least the bagel place makes delicious lunches!

Maylin wanted the breakfast sausage and egg bagel, while Téa picked the Italian panini with pesto and mozzarella.
Joe and Maylin were splitting that peanut butter smoothie, or at least were supposed to? Joe went for a mediterranean vegetable panini.
If I see the word Brie on a menu, I cannot not choose it. Kinda like chicken and waffles, I always have to try it. Sometimes I’m disappointed, but not this time! Douced in what they called Lingonberry jam, but tasted more like cranberry sauce, but a decent amount of brie made for a delicious bagel!

Seeing as we didn’t do ANY swimming yesterday, the girls and I go in early today, while Joe waits for the technician. When we finally go upstairs, the AC is fixed, the girls can shower in their own bathroom, and there’s no queue for my bathroom! Progress, even though we’re still waiting for one more fix…

It’s Friday, and we’re itching to get back to our favourite Tamarind market! On our way out the door, we see this:

Condo Management have decorated for Christmas! It may not be my personal style preference, but it’s Christmassy!

Tamarind market is always fun and always gets super busy, so we like coming there as close to opening (5pm) as we can. That way, there are hardly any line, and we have our pick of tables. We’ve had the exact same table for the last couple of weeks, because you get first pic when you arrive first!

Maylin picked omelette over rice, this time with ham and cheese.
I picked crispy chicken in pandang curry sauce over rice
Joe picked beef skewers with sticky rice. Whatever he and I choose, we generally end up sharing.
Téa loves waffles ALMOST as much as her mom does, but for some reason she thinks marshmallows go with waffles? Not shown: The cheeseburger and fries she polished off before dessert.
Joe had been curious to try the pandan custard filled pancakes, and I am so glad he bought some today. These are delicious!! Cruncy, cookie-like pancakes, and sweet soft bright green custard in the middle. I think there’s some rice flour in here, because the custard has a fantastic “cheese-pull”!

After dinner, we head home for movie night, and that’s all for another exciting Friday in Hua Hin!

  1. Your condo should be in perfect condition, by the time you leave.

I have a question. I thought you were going from Thailand to Hong Kong. Did I misunderstand or did your plans change?

  2. We certainly hope we get to enjoy a bit of perfection before we leave!!
Our plans have always been Thailand, Vietnam and then Hong Kong for February.
