Téa woke me up at 5.45am feeling sick. She at least made it downstairs to the bathroom, and the tatami mats were safe this time around. Was it too much Halloween candy? She hardly ate any! It will forever remain a mystery, what caused this bout.
With Téa feeling under the weather, and Joe keeping a close eye on the game, Maylin and I set out to have a mommy daughter day of our own! While on the subway, Maylin borrowed my Google Maps app, typed in the word café and picked a destination for us.
The first fun thing we came across this morning, was an escalator that went up, across and then up again!

Maylin had picked a bulldog themed café, so of course she had to have the bulldog shaped pancakes (waffles?). This place was so cute! Unfortunately the owner and her bulldog were not in today, but the place was hopping with tourists, and the shelves were stocked with all things bulldog (a candle shaped like a bulldog’s head!).

My own morning treat today was a very typical buttered toast with red bean “spread”, and a bonus butter dot on top of that again! I may have to recreate the red bean spread when we get home, we usually bake or steam it into buns, but it’s just as good on toast!

After our café visit, we decided to walk out onto the big fashionable avenue. The first thing that met my eyes was a black glass building with some interesting shapes, and I noticed it was the W hotel. We ducked into the lobby to look around, because W hotels are always interesting on the inside as well. Tiny lobby with friendly staff were able to help answer our questions, and we made our way back out.

We walked on down to the Daimaru building, two malls side by side with connecting hallways on certain floors. The Ghibli store is here, as is the Pokémon Café that we visited long ago. Now that we’ve actually watched the Totoro movie, this photo op makes so much more sense, and I don’t even think I noticed the sprouting plants last time! I made sure they made it into the photo this time…

We haven’t watched Spirited Away yet, but for once there was not a 20 person line up for this photo op, so Maylin went to sit next to the ghost:

There’s also a LEGO store in this building, and Maylin felt it was important to share this photo (again?) to show you what we were up to today.

And while Maylin was exploring the Mario play pieces on the side, I took a better picture of the okonomiyaki and takoyaki lady.

Maylin spotted a café for lunch with big fancy colourful drinks, of which we got none. But we did sit down to share a sweet and a savoury dish and call it lunch!

We picked a toasted egg sandwich for savoury, and Maylin wanted the cartoon character pancakes, so we split both!

After lunch, we agreed it was time to head home and check on Téa. By now, Joe was also feeling restless, so when we got home, he headed to the grocery store to pick up dinner for this evening. Téa was feeling better, so we put a movie on and took it easy for the rest of the day.

I caught up on your blog after getting home from choir. I may be the only Canadian who was not interested and didn’t watch the Blue Jays games. I just don’t like the concept of winners and losers. It was exciting for those who like it, though.
You continue to discover fascinating adventures. Thanks for sharing them.
I don’t think you’re completely alone in that, but it was fun sitting here watching Joe watch the final baseball game, and hear a neighbour cheer when the Dodgers did well, and Joe cheer back when the Jays did well… We don’t communicate much with our neighbours, so that was fun!
My pleasure, and thanks for reading!
